Door handle question
I have a drivers side door handle that I need to press in on a little more to open the door than I do the passenger side to open the door. So the trigger mechanism must be wearing down a bit. I've located another drivers side door handle that works fine. My question is can I take the components of the new door handle to fix my problem without any re-keying etc., any other better options?
Also, even though I have to push a little more on the drivers side it doesn't seem like its at the point of not opening tomorrow - could be fine for years??? Thanks!!

Not a direct answer but have you tried lubing the passenger side opening mechanism from inside the door shell? All moving parts including the trigger, and spring loaded door catch? I have two reasons for asking: First, the passenger side typically get far less use than the driver's side so it may not be worn as you suspect. Second, I had a similar situation and during the course of another fix, I lubed all moving parts inside the door--outside, too. The trigger became much easier to activate and no hesitation in opening the door.
I just read an old thread about this. It seems that a sudden break can happen, but the part needed is not available except through used parts suppliers. Here's a link: Odd door handle problem. another: Door trigger snapped

Thanks for the input and the thread link - I'm going to try the lubricant angle from the outside at least - I'm hesitant to move inside the door itself (too many things for me to mess up). Will let you know how it turns out.
