Question 1/2" OD 3 Pin Port next to ICV on 3.2 84-89

Hey 84-89's,

I noticed my 1/2" OD, 3 pin port ( Engine Diagnostic Port, I believe ) next to and below to the left of the ICV is deleted, Do I need the component?

I understood one of it's purpose is to monitor the TDC.

Please advise,

If you are asking if you really need the TDC sensor, I would say no, being it is only a diagnostic sensor for use with the specialized service equipment. The engine does not need it to run. I have seen several 3.2 engines that no longer have them installed.

Agreed it's not needed for everyday operation. Not that i'm some kind of expert, but i've yet to see someone post around here that actually HAS used this diagnostic sensor. Meaning, any engine problem that comes up, this diagnostic thing is never used to fix anything! All it does is "read" the set screw that's in the flywheel.

Thanks Fellas,

Wrench confirmed that the Engine Diagnostic Port is OBSOLETE and No Longer Used to determine TDC for our Year Cars.

Hewh, I couldn't sleep last night worried it might hurt her.

It looks cleaner without it anyways

Bonus: 0.10 Ounces Lighter
