I'd say those are casting numbers for the case. The type number is stamped on the very bottom and will be something like 915/06 (ie: the /06 is for a 1974 911). That type number will be a start to re-ask your question so you can get the stock gear ratio's for the box you have.
edit: check this thread for the photo and additional info on limited slip number (12). Option code for LSD in a 915?

That's 915/02
1st gear = 11:35 = 3.182 2nd gear = 18:33 = 1.833 3rd gear = 23:29 = 1.261 4th gear = 26:25 = 0.962 5th gear = 29:22 = 0.759 the other available ratios were 4th gear = 27:25 = 0.926 5th gear = 29:21 = 0.724

My eye says that is a 916/02.
If so, that is a VERY RARE and valuable transmission for the 1972 Porsche 916 - the 2.4 MFI 914-6 with a 915 adapted for mid-engine configuration. Are there any other pictures? Best, Grady

I even went to the trouble of flipping that picture over and still think it's possible that the third digit is a 5. It's so marred, it's hard to tell. The guy says it's on ebay, so a link would help a ton!

this pic is from the owner he sent me through private e-mail and he said in person it is a 5 not a 6.
this is a tranny i was thinking of buying for a race project i have and my low H.P. of my 3.0 might enjoy these low ratios. did a search on here and would do some improvemnts if i go this route. thanks ed
