Targa Seal

Hi Everyone -

I saw an ad recently for a windshield to targa top seal that supposedly has been made from a mold of one of the last factory correct seals for an early 911. The original seal has been superseded by a later model 911 targa seal that is not exactly the right size, and can cause excessive wind noise and other problems if not properly augmented to fit.

I was just wondering if anyone else has seen these ads as well, and/or if they've any feedback? Whaddya think?

Thanks in advance!

Talk to Dan Petchel, from Cars inc. Dan is the Targa top guru, and has seals in stock.

Good luck!

Paul.

This is the ONLY "correct" front Targa Seal on the market for 1970-83 '911's'! Porsche supplies the later style Carrera/964 seal in the bag no matter which part number you order 911 565 090 46 or 911 565 090 47. While the later seal can be 'made' to work, it requires difficult modifications & a lot of skill to get the tops to fit and close correctly.

Thanks guys! This is very helpful. Have either of you tried fitting this seal either from Cars inc. or Automotion?

What seal did you go with? Dan's or Automotion?
Automotion also claims that it has the only proper fitting seal for this application. (anyone have feedback on their seal?)
Did you have any problems?

I'm about to buy one and would like your input.

I went with Dan's seal. A perfect fit. If you need the two manuals pm me your email address.

I think they are both the same product and made by "aturboman's" company {Front control arm bushings}. I think Dan was the driving force behind this product.

Got a bit confused. Are you talking about the Targa top front seal or windshield top seal (not windshield seal)?

I presume the Targa top front seal is for installation on the Targa top while the windshield top seal is to be installed on the body frame enclosing the windshield.

Please correct me if I'm wrong as I'm in the market for a "windshield top seal", thanks!

This is the seal that meets the window frame, targa top and front quarter windows.

If you are looking for the windshield seal, that's going to be tough. Some have updated to the 993 windshield seal. It looks much better and no metal trim to worry about.
