Cheap track wheels?
I understand that my 911 (87 Carrera) has an unusual bolt pattern and offset which limits wheel choices. Can anyone offer a few suggestions for fairly inexpensive track wheels? I have looked at 16x9 Fuchs to replace my 16x6 and 16x7s, but they are stupid expensive. Fikses, Kinesis, BBS - no better. Now I am not expecting $90 a wheel, but is a 250-300 track wheel too much to ask for? I don't care about looks, and low weight is relative. 17" would be nice but not necessary. Any ideas?
This is what they are going on - rotas currently equipped.

That car and those wheels look to nice to track.
I am interested to hear any wheel suggestions. The best I could do on my budget was another set of 6 &7 inch Fuchs. |

I would like to keep the Rotas as my street wheels - they already have nice Eagle F1s as quiet street tires... I have thought about sending my 16x6 Fuchs to Lindsey for about 300 a wheels to turn them into 17x9s.
I would like some track wheels to put some R compounds on...

You are looking for $300 per wheel? 4 wheels would be $1,200. People are selling 16x9 and 16x7 set of real Fuch for as low as $1,700 day and night. In fact, I was asking $1,700 for a while without buyer. I am willing to let them go now for $1,600 and 4 used tires on them if you are interested.

Rnln thanks but I am not ready to pull the trigger - just trying to do some research...
I said I was looking for 250-300 a wheel, but I guess I was hoping someone would come up with a choice that was somewhat less. Like a Kosei K1s for 100/wheel. Does anything like that exist, or will the Porsche tax preclude anything less than 300ish? Rotas are 325/wheel. How wide do phone dials come? I am looking for at least 9" wide in the rear and I don't think they come that wide. I'll have to research that one. Some friends have suggested that I buy a nice set of 16x9 Fuchs to use for the street (with my stock 16x7s up front) and keep the Rotas for my track wheels (but they are so pretty right now!). What are people getting for 16x6s? Aren't those the only wheel Lindsey's can use to make Jack Olsen crazy wheels? (No offense Jack - I wish I could have a sweet car like yours that would be worthy of them

You can buy a set of real, lightweight track wheels custom made for your offsets for around $500 per wheel from CCW.. I run the "Classics" on my car.

I am not an expert but some are hesatant to run the Rota's on the track.
Having said that I would concider trying time at my own risk. There are also some 16" Fuch copys on FleeBay for under $700 a set in 16 7&9's. A better choice migh to get some used Porsche cup style wheels from the 993 that I think were 7+9 17's and I think they run abound $600 a set used. They have good size openings for cooling air around the brakes. Just need to get a set of adaptors. |

After that I might try for a stock, but crappy looking, set of stock fuchs... after that perhaps some you might get lucky and find a set of bbs whells you could use... I'm not too hot on using off brand after market wheels for the track. for the street is one thing, the track another animal all together... So, my advice, if you choose to accept it, would be to spend the bucks on a really nice strong and light set of track wheels (custom or production) and cheap out on the street wheels ![]() you can use steel wheels It is an option ![]() Best regards, Michael

BBS Wheels for Carrera And you can sell off the centercaps for $50 each! That's what I got for mine when I sold them individually, one at a time. ![]() Fuchs are great wheels, but they're pricey and used ones are not always in good condition. Some people really didn't take care of these wheels over the years and the satin paint, anodized rims look terrible.

Nobody mentioned cookie cutters. Don't know if they come in 7&8's though.

Tony,
I need to move these out of the garage. 16" Gottis. I used them for many years on the track. All for $500.00. I'm going to be in VA Beach on Friday. If I can fit them in the car with my overnight bag, I can deliver. Jim S. ![]() ![]()

Like Jack said, what's wrong with another set of Rotas? A few on Pelican have tracked them. I haven't heard of any problems so far.

Thanks for the offer Jim but I am not quite ready to buy just yet - wanted to do some more research. I like the BBS option though...

Is that a 964 offset? If so then find the D90's they're dirt cheap (less than $300 for the full set) and they're relatively light (or at least lighter than other OEM)

I do have a set of 16x7x9 Fuchs that would fit your budget of $250-$300 per wheel. They are off my 86 turbo and the chrome is pitting.
