Old steering wheels — are they like wine?

Well, they get better with age and seem to get me drunk. I know I'm not alone with this problem. It might be an obsession but I feel like it's a necessary obsession. I've been waiting for going on 3 years for my 911 backdate project to get finished. It's been moving nicely as of late and might even be ready before the end of 2008. In that time to fill the void, I discovered vintage MOMO steering wheels. It started out as a mild interest, then became a fascination and it has turned into bona fide obsession. (Believe it or not, it was similar to the first time I sat in an old sports car: My senses heightened. Enveloping sights, sounds and smells: old leather, motor oil and English walnut. Fire the engine up. Wow. The music from that motor. That was it for me. I'm hooked on old sports cars).
Now when I see an old Porsche or another old sports car, the first thing I want to see is the steering wheel. Am I nuts or what?

Forgive me for this but when they arrive I feel the need to share.

Below is a 380mm early 1970s vintage MOMO prototipo
