doubt it being a metric car,

I just pulled my seat belts and have them for sale.....let me check when I go out to the shop later, you're talking bolts of upper belt mount, lower reel mount, or between the seat mount?

Those darned things are to shallow to get a good grip on. A 17mm fits too loose, so I'm guessing it's a 16 mm. Guessing. If so, then what was Porsche thinking? We all know about the International Treaty for Metric Fasteners. Germans use odds and Japanese use evens and ten can be shared. 16mm fasteners belong on Japanese cars.

It's like the old brake parts, back in the day the standards were written, these were defininitely written to US standards, in inches

Thanks 76911, I did it too, but I never wrote it down and my memory isn't so good anymore

just to be doubly sure any other confirmation?

7/16 20 is the correct thread. the US DOT has standards that they set, one of those being the seatbelts and the bolts that attach the belts. that's why we've got SAE bolts in an otherwise metric car.

Bill,

They are 7/16 UNF threads. If you have the porsche fasteners, they will have a 8.8 stamp and require a 17 mm wrench.

So now I'm curious - were the same seatbelt fasteners used on RoW cars? I don't see the fasteners listed on PET.

Do you need some bolts?
If so, e-mail me.

yes, the seat belt bolts are the same worldwide and across the model line.
993, 993 w/ sport seats and 993RS all used the same bolts and seatbelt receivers.

993RS seat parts are in the seat section on the RoW side, 993 seat parts are in the 993/body section.

Since the US typically represents the largest market for most "off-shore" manufacturers, my understanding (and to back up Bill) is that they use SAE bolts to keep the manufacturing costs down.
