How Much Wine Can An Old 911 Hold?

OK, so this is a REALLY technical subject.

A friend of mine is off on a winery tour/ cruise this coming weekend and wants to bring back a few bottles. No, really? I said that I thought my SC could hold about 13 or 14 cases in different areas throughout the empty car - or maybe more! This doesn't include 80 litres in the fuel tank, either! She has an RS America and is not sure she believes me. But, I've got it figured out ...

What do you guys think?

My wife and I go hit the wineries up in northern Michigan annually and pick up a few cases of wine. I have to admit, I would love to see a picture of your 911 with 13-14 cases of wine inside, I might even use it to cajole her into letting me drive the 911 next time we go, she'll just have to pack lighter.

With no rear seats and packing lightly in the trunk you can probably fit a fair amount. Then if you don't care about passengers, you always have the passenger seat as well. So I think 13 or 14 cases could work.
Now if you rigged up a trailer to the 911.. you could haul even more.

How much does it all weigh? I think you can only carry alittle over 500 pounds in a 911

Should have no problem getting 12 cases into an older 911. Our record is 20 cases into a London cab we hired for a day of touring the wineries of Niagara Ontario

space for at least 10 cases

wt. is the issue

up here, the wineries don't give any discount -- except a few that have clubs

Bah, you use the wine in the trailer when you stop caring what wine tastes like later in the night

Ten cases will weigh about 200 lbs.

10 cases * 12 bottles = 120
each bottle is 750 ml: 120 * .75 = 90 litres
figure wine will weigh about the same as water. One litre is 1 kg = 2.2 lbs: 90 * 2.2 = 198 lbs

Cheers...

You forgot to add the weight of the bottle.

Shipping weight for wine is between 3 and 3.5lbs per bottle.

I'd be comfortable doing 8 cases in an early 911.

Whoops. I guess I shouldn't have had that couple extra glasses at dinner...

9 cases of beer in the back if that will help set a bench mark.

I used to do around 8-10 cases regularly from the south of France back up to here. + wife. + luggage. + dog.

W/o luggage and dog, I would've been limited by weight long before I was limited by space.
