price check 996 engine
I have a friend that converted a 996 into an electric car and he wants to sell the engine, it had a funny noise and the owner at prestige in san antonio told him that it was the timing belt that needed to be change. anybody have an idea of what this engine is worth? 2K? I have NO idea I think he would be happy with anything he can get out of it. Please let me know
Thanks |

Actually, if it had fewer miles, I would be up for buying it for a transplant into the Boxster. If it's from a 99, it's a 3.4 liter (which are not as in demand as 3.6 liter engines). For that mileage, maybe $3-$4K. Depends on what the funny noise is.
Heck, I'd give him $2K for it, if he wants to move it quickly.

If you search that auction site for 996 engine, it appears that is it already up for auction. Also, it says it has over 100K miles.
