Shane, good luck with the trip. Nebraska and SD in general have been hit with some heavy snow. I make the trip up to Watertown SD quite often as my wife is from there so I know the roads well. I am in Jefferson City, MO and I have Porsche friends in KC and Sioux falls so if a problem comes up, which I doubt, at least you have some contacts.

Hope you are breaking this up into a two day trip as that is a long distance for one day.

Hey Shane - have a great trip! Take picture & video & post as you go. Not that I am demanding or anything. Just loooove a good road trip. Hope you have great weather, no blue lights, keep the rubber side down, and all that good stuff!

Shane,

If you have any trouble in the Sioux Falls area let me know I can help out. PM me for a #. When are you headed this way? Heavy fog predicted for tomorrow morning and some snow Thursday or Friday.

Michael,

Thanks. I will PM you in a minute. I was trying to get out by 3am my time (CST). I figure if all goes well, I should get to Sioux Falls between 5 and 7pm. I hope anyway...

Just changed my oil and tested my spare. Man, I forgot what a pain this thing is to deflate and get back the right amount of shrink to get back in place under the hood.

I made it! Got in to Rapid last night at midnight. Would have been quicker but as I left Sioux Falls last night the fog rolled in... and rolled in thick! I had to slow WAY down. And then, about 15 minutes west of Siuox Falls, a deer ran out in front of me. I do not know how I missed that thing, but I did and am grateful for that! Had to stop for a few minutes though...

Other than the Great Deer Incident of 2008, everything went really smooth. The car ran great all the way up. The only inconvenience I had was the oil smell from the heat (accidentally spilled a 1/2 qt of oil while changing the oil the night before), and my starter/battery is acting up again. Had to push start the 3 stops and this morning it still won't turn over. I just cleaned the grounds and put in on my father-in-law's charger. Hopefully that is all it needs this time.

Michael, it was nice to meet you for dinner in Sioux Falls. I always enjoy meeting other car nuts, especially Pelicans. I look forward to gettting up here in the spring or summer next time for a run with you guys.

Well, I will be leaving out Saturday sometime to head back to Tennessee. If anyone wants to try to meet up somewhere along the path, let me know. I should be going back down the way I came (in reverse of course).

Sorry, no pics yet as the family has all of the digicams with them for their trip. Maybe I can sneak one home with me.

BTW, it took me 19 hours with stops for gas and an hour break for dinner with Michael in Siuox Falls.

Man, coming back in reverse is going to be very slow, what about 30mph tops?

Jay

Ha! You get your ride sorted yet. I heard you had to drive the other car out to Palooza.

Almost got the car going, drove it for a couple of days last week, not enough to trust a 700 mile drive.
Drove the Kia to Palooza, but I beat 2 997s back home
