Hi All,
Its been ages since i posted to pelican. Been busy on the car. She's come a long way and i didnt quite make it onto the road this year getting the car back from the bodyshop in June. Im still waiting fro a few finishing bits (just ordered by 3.6 badge from pelican!) and the seats - Recaro Sports, then a few odds and sods and she'll be ready. in a nutshell started as a very tatty 190000mile 3.2 Carrera (1985) - with lots of rust, full body restoration and backdate to Rs spec. Fully rebuild 964RS 3.6 engine with RSR motronic and 9m remap. SSIs. 7 and 8 inch Fuchs. Appbiz RS carpet and doors and the piece de resistance a genuine 911R 10k tacho Early Days - a little rust bubble and some digging! In Progress and after lots of work.. ![]() ![]() And what does my 2 year old daughter say.. 'Not like it daddy, its SLUGSY!' |

Great work! Too bad your daughter doesn't like it. Wait til she's 16!
I'm surprised to see all that rust on a British '85. Is that typical?

"is that typical"
Id love to say Yes, but that would have some people up in arms. All i will say is there are probably lots of shiny UK 911s hiding a lot of horror under the odd harmelss looking paint blister or sill cover. Having said that, this 911 lived in Lytham St Annes wich is a sea-side town so in that respect its atypical and it didnt do it any good. - Half a sandcastle came out from the inside of each sill. I bought her knowing the full story about the rot and already had plans so I got a bargain. by the time I had stripped her and offset with the sale of parts like the engine, spoilers, interior, bonnet etc I think she owed me £2000 as a starting point. Having said that if I bought an 80s 911 to use rather than update I'd certainly have looked for a more solid one - they do exist, you just need to look (hard) |

You did some major rust repairs. These are the projects I like the best. Grab a rusty Carrera and next thing you know is that you've got a 3.2 backdate!
That's sweet car. |

Beauty! Maybe I'll drop in for a pint of Boddy's and a spin next time I'm visiting the sheep shagging relatives over the Pennines in Huddersfield! Come to think of it, I know some great twisty roads "over the tops" to get there from Manchester Airport. Hey, you could pick me up! Cheers from Steve in Calgary, Canada.
