Where did you get the classic decals?

teamfee3 01-01-2009 07:04 AM

SORRY

http://www.early911sregistry.org/WeltmeisterDecal.html

and of course Google and EBay. Supplies seem to come and go and they range from $15 - $30. If you find them buy two, they get hard to find.

Team Fee

Way to go.

Your car looks great.

teamfee3 01-01-2009 11:59 AM

I know everyone has one but the Prototipo is the best looking wheel around, I wish it was thicker.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1230843454.jpg

Not sure if the yellow lights will survive.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1230843481.jpg

I am working on an audio/video clip of the Maxspeed cat bypass.

GothingNC 01-01-2009 03:57 PM

I'd pass on the yellow headlights and switch to amber fog lights.

January 3rd

After photo of cat bypass install
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1231089949.jpg
Ralph's cleaned up the tranmission case while it was out. Man it shifts a lot nicer, I thought it was just how a 915 box was but I was wrong.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1231090000.jpg
Also new Sport motor mounts.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1231090145.jpg
Now I need to install the rest of the dash LEDs, the dead pedal, and figure out if I need to pull off the ac condensor to install the grill badges. Next on the list;
1. Steve Wong chip (I'm convinced) - $350
2. RS America door panels with cool new leather straps - $335
3. Rennline black drilled driver's floor board - $140
4. Rennline silver drilled pedals with heal / toe extensions - $180
5. Paint head light rings black to match car - $?
6. Porsche crest horn button already on the way
7. Detail engine compartment and new hood shock - $16
8. Turn signal switch (high beams on all the time) - $125
No garage, so I just need some warmer weather.

Looking good!!

Teamfee,

I hate to admit it, but those yellow headlights are starting to grow on me. Love the Momo steering wheel.

jh225 01-19-2009 12:49 PM

on the Prototipo......

Where did you get the Porsche crest center hub and does the horn still work?

I would guess you got the wheel and adaptor from our host, no?

teamfee3 01-19-2009 05:17 PM

You can get a Porsche crest horn button from Pelican and it will work just fine and everything you need will come with the hub adaptor kit.

Jgordon 01-19-2009 08:00 PM

Lower it. I want your wheels now.

Sound clip B&B Maxspeed Autoauthority chip

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIUFShPVczU

Finally a sound clip. Just picked up the camera at work, $199, lots of attachments, can take a 2GB sandisc for an hour of recording, first try at it.

Canada Kev 03-03-2009 07:21 PM

The vid kinda reminds me of the old Atari game Night Driver or whatever it was called. 'Cept in reverse...

Sounds good, though.

teamfee3 03-09-2009 03:57 PM

I know it's a new car and you will be tempted to dump some money into it to customize it, but...

Have you noticed the trend in the long hoods? (Most) Everybody wants originality. In 5 - 10 years (or sooner) the SCs and Carreras will start becoming collectable and people will pay more for originality. If you do change anything keep the original!

I completely agree!

I was having the same debate myself as I really love the Yellowbird body kits but I must say, to do a lot of customizing will truly hurt the value of this car. Especially considering how clean yours looks!

Rennline Pedal and SW Chip

I just installed the Rennline fully adjustable accel pedal. Very easy job, basic tools and a hack saw. I took about 1/2 inch off the linkage shaft and put the top pedal all the way down and still hit the gas under full braking so taking another 1/2 inch off the chaft and it should be good. Really smooth and changes the car. You can't believe the thing that comes off. Highly recommend this upgrade. Mine went in fast so excuse the re-use of crusty hardware, I'll clean it up soon. The floor board is still a little rattley so I'll need to add something up top at the two clips. It's really only held on with the bottom bolt.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1237673672.jpg

I love how the floorboard matches the Prototipo.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1237673763.jpg

The Steve Wong chip (cat-bypass & aftermarket exhaust version) really is different. Smoother power delivery, runs less lean. It seems to shorten first and really kick in first from 3500rpms up, otherwise much better than the Auto Authority chip (which is for sale - make an offer over $50). The upside to the AA chip - it sounded better and did run great, the SW just seems smoother and more refined. I think only peer pressure made me do it but glad I did. I was running with a friends GT3 RS today and he said he really liked the sound but nothing beats his car.

RS Door Panles in

This was way harder than assumed - the first one anyway - and I did drill a small nick in my window - score one for knuckle heads everywhere. The leather pulls are very thick and get marked pulling them through the trim piece. The circular plastic trim pieces for the door pulls look like they are not going to stay in place ever. Overall though, awesome look, great quality and I'm very happy with the bulk of the result.

Decided to do without door speakers for now since I rarely listen to the radio and can't really hear it when I do. The stock panels with speakers weigh a ton.

Looking good.

On your handles I found that if you use a small nut of nylon spacer (washers were supplied with mine)behind it spaces it out enough for the trim pieces to stay put.

teamfee3 04-06-2009 06:36 AM

I am considering 911R tail lights

I think it would look good on a black car even with impact bumpers
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1239028597.jpg
I think it works on the rear.
