Yet another 915 issue part 2

This is a continuation of my previous post with the same title. Many thanks to JWalker, RWebb, PeterZ and all the other fine Pelican contributors plus Wayne that make this page like a big great tech family. I have gone into this job with minimal fear thanks to all of you..
I was pretty happy with the lack of abuse evidence on the dog teeth etc. The bearings are not happy and boy, are they expensive! Now I don't want to skimp on what is needed but I also don't want to go changing stuff that is still serviceable. The dog teeth are my question. The diameter of the syncro ring on third is exactly what it should be BUT the syncro ring will not stay in the dog when the circlip is removed (as suggested in the Bentley manual). It's not that the syncro is loose, but rather the springiness of the syncro causing it to jump out.
So now I have some pictures of 2nd and 4th for your perusal and comment

(Ran out of text last post.) Both the 1-2 and 3-4 sliders are worn out. There is a really obvious syncro shaped groove on the inside of both, particularly the 1-2 one.
Question:
Between the dog teeth and the slider wearing, wouldn't the slider be the one to wear the most (on the inside where the syncro ring contacts it)? I say this because the slider is turning at full speed as it engages the slower turning syncro band at the dog teeth (and gear) Right?
