Nice solution to the Hargett shifter handbrake problem.

The Hargett shifter is a wonderful upgrade, and I have been really happy with the one in my car. The only down side I have found after using it for a year is the extremely bad access to the handbrake in the factory location. I had managed to get it stuck in the locked position more than once

Not any more - I did consider relocating the handbrake, but felt it was not the best solution. After some thinking and playing about, here is the final results...

Paul (sorry, I don't know how to type Pal w/the little mark above the "a"!) -

I don't quite follow - did you make an extension so the lever extends out further?
Tom

What did you use to extend the ebrake handle? Looks great!

Paul,
Nice extension! The Hargett has a decent profile to it as well so it looks as though the new handbrake lever can articulate along its arc with nice clearance and still engage the e-brake. You going to sell these?

Yes Tom, it is a replacement unit for the factory handbrake handle which extends the arm past the edge of the Hargett shifter. With the factory handbrake, the handle is located just under the shifter making it very difficult to operate - here is our proposed solution.

It is machined from aluminium

Thank you Clint, nice to get that good feedback from someone like you - makes me feel really good about our work Yes, Just need to clean it up a bit more (it is the prototype one, so not 100% aesthetically correct), and set a price on it and then we will include it to the product range. considering having anodised colour options as well (black, red, blue and clear)...

Also working on a replacement aluminium cover for the coupler access hole as the factory cover will not work with the new rod location on the Hargett shifter, which will be available in the same colour options to go with the handbrake extension. We will also offer etching for this part so for a little extra cost you can have personalised text or logo on the cover

Should probably talk to our host as well - do not want to use his forum for our marketing without Pelican getting something out of it as well...

Nice to see this finally available.

Hargett should be offering these items as part of the complete shifter kit.

I use the HB all the time when parked.

I have not bought his shifter yet because of the handbrake issue.

Perhaps now I will.

That's what we thought as well - now you can have the best shifter available for your car and have access to your handbrake.... Like having your cake and eating it

Thank you Shaun, we are finally ready now to put these up for sale and will be updating the web site soon - with the dropping GBP and the USD going up, this will be a good time for all the US Hargett shifter users to consider a nice addition to their set-up

Well, if there's interest in a group buy, you could ship them all to me and then I can ship them out from here. Worked pretty well with the faux R screen mesh Ove sent me.
