H.Freight master FI tester

Anyone have this model? It's $88@ the local store. Seems a safe buy, i.e. no electrical, and only one moving part to break. Here's the link.

Gator, the link shows $79.99. I have a similar set-up that I bought from them many years ago, and it has worked and functioned as it should for its type of application. After I first received it I compared it with an OTC model, and did not see any thing that would indicate that it did not work properly or accurately. You just need to make sure that it is capable of testing CIS systems, as many don't. Several different, dedicated, CIS system testers are available, from various companies. Tony.

I have the JC whitney tester but I would not hesitate to use the one linked to.
Remember the setting is a range of pressure not a specific pressure.. if the guage is off slightly it really wont matter.

I bought the HF model as I wanted something fast and JCW had a delay in shipping.

It worked fine for a while. Then I was getting strange results from my pressures. I ended up taking off all of the 'quick connect' pieces and just hooked everything necessary directly with fuel hose. Then it worked fine.

So, I like it for being in stock locally but not for how it works. It did provide me with what I need for CIS testing.

Harbor Freight does not sell a CIS pressure gauge set.
You may be able to rig something up to check control pressure with the set linked above but there is no ball valve in the hose for checking system pressure.

That set looks like something Harbor Freight marketed to unload a bunch of low grade chinese brass fittings on the masses.

I orderd the JC Whitney CIS guages some years ago, and for the $60 they sent me a set of total garbage early eightees 3/8 socket wrench extensions...
The fuel pressure gauge that comes up on the JC Whitney link above is not a CIS gauge set either. Harbor Freight sell that exact same one for about $10.
Thats a good deal for that but it doesn't do CIS.
There are no hoses to hook into the WUR loop, and it says not for CIS right on the box.

I sent the very poorly stamped out pot metal socket extensions back, and after many calls they eventually refunded my card.
You couldn't pay me to order anything from that BS place again.

Took a few minutes doing some internet searches and found this set for $56.95, and this tool store has good customer service.
It works perfectly.

Notice the small inline ball valve next to the T in the hose for shutting off the fuel flow through the hose that connects to the WUR so you can also check fuel head system pressure.

You have to make sure that you order the correct set from JC whitney. They have two listed and only one of them is specifically for CIS.

The old set is about 15 years old and got another one on Father's Day. Both purchased from JC W. Willing to give up the second set (new and never used yet) for $65 who might need one and does not want to wait for their back orders from JC Whitney. Happy holidays to everyone!!!!.

Actually, the kit from HF DOES include all you need for CIS including the ball valve. I just had a problem with the schrader valves they used for quick disconnect. I unscrewed the spring loaded pin in the center of the necessary pieces and had a very nice working CIS pressure tester.

The CIS gauge on the right looks just like the Star TU-14PB that I linked to at toolsource.. which goes for $56.95
http://www.toolsource.com/fuel-injection-tester-bosch-p-93217.html?sourceid=trafficleader

It comes with a bag of extra brass fittings that are not in the picture. I leave the fittings that fit the Bosch WUR on the hose.
It also comes in a nice red plastic case and cost $8 less, and you can order it online or toll free number.

The bleeder valve on the aluminum block next to the gauge is important.
After it's all hooked up and the fuel pumps are running you wrap a rag around that and press it in which lets all the air out of the hose followed by some gasoline so you will then get an accurate fuel pressure reading without air pockets compressing in the hose and gauge.
After disconnecting it you hold it up by the gauge and press the bleed valve again to let air in through the bleed valve so all the gas in the hose will run out the 2 ends before you put it away.

They email you a tracking number, I had mine in less than a week, and you even get a warranty...
