TARGA Vent window Seal

I have a 71 Targa with the moveable front quarter window glasses that pop in and out. I need to replace the weatherstrip on these and been wondering the procedure.

thanks for your input.

i just replaced these on a car, its not that bad, you will have to remove the assembly from the car, remove the vent glass from the frame, tear out the old w/strip, clean and make up some soapy water and start working the groove on the w/strip into the channel. if you have a pop rivet gun, you can drill out those 2 rivits up at the top, and that will give you a little more working room (i used oem rubber and it was a very tight fit, just work it in the channel with a plastic push of some sorts, go slow, and start where you dont finish at the lower front(where the sharp curve is)

How does "the assembly" remove from the door?

You have to remove the complete window frame. And dismantling the quarter window frame. I would suggest also replacing the top window stop at the same time once you are in there. Replacing the two copper rivets that hold the stop in place requires a special blocking plate. Once you are through window adjustment is a bit tricky.

T, after you pull your door panal off, u will see the 6mm allen heads, also there are two more under plastic plugs on the upper inner door jam, and then the assy, will slide rite out, when you put the assem, back in, shut the door and alighn the frame to the weather stripping on the window frame, i think the post above thinks you have a coupe, targas are a lot easier.

I replaced one on a 71E targa I had about a year ago... don't recall the procedure exactly but nothing was re-riveted. I dissasembled the quarter window from the door. It was all very straight forward.
