Porsche Crest wanted to say hello and show her off

Hello to all of you on the Tech forums. I have been lurking around for a few months now, both before and since I bought my new baby. It's an '83 sc, chiffon white with chocolate leather interior. Turbo Spoiler from the factory. Bought it off the 2nd owner with all paperwork dating back to '84-'85. Bought it with 69k original, have since bumped that to 73k. I'm a little concerned with the clutch as I have been told it's original (que exploding rubber) not real sure how to tell. Good looking car, minor denting to the valence (fixed that with a Zoll tag and some washers). another dent in the left rear fender and one on the passenger door. Someone put some money in this stereo as it is sporting two ADS Powerplate 120s and ADS speakers front and rear. Wierd thing though, they moved the stereo to the bonnet, so the only faceplate in the cab is one that comes through the rubber around the hand break. Sony 10 disc. I've never seen anything like it.

I have quickly realized that you have to prioritize projects, especially where the budget is concerned.

Car was pretty solid when I got it. Synchro from one to two is a little stubborn (added swepco 201 - noticable gains). Interior is pristine (may need new seals around the sunroof). Put 1" spacers on the back when i realized how much a set of 8" fuchs was gonna cost me. Having the wheels redone this week: stripped, repolished painting centers factory black. New Kumho Ecsta rubber going on at the same time (old tires were pretty sketchy.) Any opinions on center caps? polished look, black, hand painted?

The car has either already been lowered or the torsion bars are getting a bit warn, but i like the look.

Getting married here soon, so I am probably going to have to slow it down on the projects soon. Still wondering what the best setup on exhaust would be. Anyone with headers thing the expense is worth the gain? I have been contemplating a cat-bypass and a performance muffler of some sort (more concerned with pitch that volume)

Really enjoying working on this car (predominantly raised on american muscle and off road setups). The oil changes, transmission fluid change, fuel sender unit change (bad story on that one) they haven't been quite as easy as Wayne's book makes them sound, but I have a feeling they'll be a bit easier the second go round.

I'm going to try to upload some pictures. comments and suggestions regarding anything I've mentioned would be welcome.

Thanks,

Chip

'83 sc

She looks pretty sweet..... I had one just like her in '83 but the man down at the bank took her from me. I like your Porsche too....

Welcome. Nice looking car. The young lady doesn't looked to thrilled. As far as exhausts go... Ben at M&K does fantastic muffler work. There are obviously others but M&K's have a real good reputation, deservedly so. Personally I have a cat bypass with a one in two out M&K. Good luck with your projects, (why will you have to curtail them?)

One of the nicest color combinations, IMO, and yours is especially clean and sweet! Very well done!

Very nice ride. I have an obvious bias toward chiffon weiss... Best of luck to you and your future bride.
