"Running" sliced open 911 motor...Kassel, Germany

Apparently this is on display in my birth town of Kassel, Germany.
It's just too cool not to share.

I'm thinking just some light lubricant...maybe just wd40?.. No load on this motor...

Any idea what size this motor is?

I think it's a 2.7 (looks to be mag case, CIS pistons and still has the fins on the cylinder barrels).

Maybe they remove the piston rings so there is no friction?

Wouldn't this thing make a cool table? Glass top, lighting and small electric motor to drive it?

My guess is they treated all bearing surfaces with dry film lube.
