951 Fuchs

I've heard that 7x16 Fuchs from a 951 or 944 make a good fit on the front of an SC/Carrera 911. What numbers would I find on the inside of these wheels, to identify them as the proper 7x16 wheels for this application?

They will have 951.362.115.xx part #s & ET 23.3, both will be embossed on the back of a spoke

The wheels I am looking at carry the ET 23.3 markings. Does this mean they are the correct wheels for this application? Thanks, Bill !!!

I guess I have one more question. Are these wheels spendy? I can't imagine they are "rare," but I know they are somewhat desirable. For autocross, fer sher. What's the price range?

The 7s won't fit any different than a 911 7. They do have extra brake clearance though. It's the 951 8s that have the offset which allows them to fit on the front of a standard flare 911.

I run 4 951x7

I rolled my fenders and used a foam brush to fix any metalic paint chipping.

I run 951 8's on the front of my car with 930 9's on the back. It is a standard narrow body. You are looking for the 8's . . . don't pay a premium for the 7's.

my street wheels are 951 7s and 8s, 225/245. As stated above I don't think the 951 7s fit any differently than 911 7s. 951 7s have more room from brakes.

btw - When my new wheels arrive hopefully next month, I may sell this set if you're interested.

What's your definition of a narrow body?

It's an SC/Carrera fendered car.
I posted pictures recently in another thread: Fuchs; are those 8s or 9s?

Also, the general consensus is the 951 16x7 is an unattractive wheel because it looks just like a 16x6 to the untrained eye- flat face with no "dish" to it. You can tell the difference between the 951 7 and the 16x6 by looking for the countersunk lug holes in the 951 7. I've had a few pairs of these wheels and I concur that they're not as good looking as a typical 16x7 Fuchs. But they are desirable from a brake clearance standpoint, since they are one of the two 16 in Fuchs that will fit big Brembo brakes (930 brakes notwithstanding) inside of them.

As far as cost, no, you shouldn't pay a premium for these because they are no different in fitment from the regular 16x7, with the exception of the extra brake clearance caused by the deeper hub. They are rather rare though. These wheels were made for only the 1986 944 Turbo. So in reality there's a whole lot more of the regular 16x7 Fuchs wheels in the world than there are the 1986 951 Fuchs 16x7. Before the internet, I bet these wheels were hard to find! These wheels go for $300-$400 per pair in good shape, just like the regular 16x7.

I just measured the lips of a 911 6x16 and a 951 7x16. The 7x16 has about 1/4" more lip. Without measuring they look same. I don't know what the lip is on a 911 7x16

I can match up both next to each other if Super needs it.

The hook for me is that I can use my 930 brakes on a narrow 911

pic is my 951 7x16

ps: I noticed a harder ride on the 7x16 than 6x16. Bill V threw out that the sidewall will be straighter and should be stiffer. Tires are 205x55x16

Yes this is what you want and I've never seen a pair of them priced at less than $800.

Ronnie,

Do you need the 951 7 on account of the rear 930 brakes? Because I know that the 930 front brakes are clear of a regular 16x7 Fuchs.

Hi Kev

yes to mount all 4 without wheel spacers

brakes not mounted yet

if they were I would have posted pic's of black '78-'79 930 calipers without dirt shields x4

if I don't paint the caliper P logo white it should look low key with floating front rotors to civilians?

the whole metalic flat outer fender lips were painted with Dupont Chromabase and Dupont Imron clear using a foam brush to fix any fender rolling chips that happened at the edges from the insides being bend under. Gotta match the chipped areas to the body instead of just a touch-up that's easily seen. You have to search up close and know what to look for to find any flaws. I can spray paint anything perfectly and it's good enough for me. A little creative technique needed with the foam brush but I figured it out. Call me if interested in secret method.

it was a ***** finding the front calipers

I have a very nice pair of 951 16x7 Fuchs that I've had for a couple years and never used. Let me know if you are interested.
