				will this improve performance

from the looks of the carbon left on the intake ports, it looks like the runners are a little bigger than the port opening. would it be worth the time to grind the edge of the port out to the carbon edge and down about 5mm or so. i would think the sharp edge would restrict air flow.

i think what your looking at is the gasket outline I'm pretty sure when i looked my 2.7 over i decided that the intake runners and head port size was the same. what you would be doing is gasket matching your heads and intake runners. as far as performance gain i think it would take a dyno to even come close to telling that. i thought after looking at the flow characteristics of the CIS box itself going through the rubber sleeves etc. that it wouldn't be worth it.

just my two cents I'm sure someone has a good reason to do it, other than it would be good experience. ed

Also looks like the gasket was installed backwards. The cutout in the gasket should be installed over the carved out area of the head. Was installed at the 1 o'clock position (in the picture) should be at the 11 o'clock position.

You need to flip the gasket up side down.

i was not sure if the gasket was too big and left the carbon or if it was the runners themselves. perhaps a measurement is in order. i was taking pics for something else last night and thought i would post this while i was at it. perhaps i should have waited

looking at the pics again, it does look like the gaskets may have been flipped, but if they were, wouldnt they be in the way of the injectors or do they have double cutouts for the injestors? i will have to look at see if i still have them
