Clutch disc type / look

I Have been scouting around looking for pricing on clutch discs for my 79 sc.

I have found two different styles.

One is flat and smoth like my brake discs.
One is kind of slotted like it has almost multiple pads.

And one even had more springs. it was not SACHS.
The others are.

What can you all tell me about the difference??

I would suggest one of the clutch packages listed here

Either the standard Sachs or the Sachs 'Power clutch' would be the most cost effective for most purposes.

The only one I wouldn't use is any of the rubber center versions.

Do replace the clutch, friction disk and t/o bearing at the same time.

Thanks Bill.
That is the first place I looked.
I don't mind a little premium but investigations tell me the pricing is a little high.

Still confused about the two diferent discs though.

I can't tell what different does it make but all I have seen are with slot/cut. I have not seen one without. My stock rubber one has slot/cut.

What's wrong here? An uploaded copyrighted pic and a statement that our host is too "pricey?"

If you compare apples to apples and factor in Pelican's free shipping, it's hard to beat their deal. And, you get customer service. I value the PP customer service.

Milt,

I did not say that I was not buying Pelican. I buy most of my parts here.
My initial investigation turned up two types of discs for one.
I would like to know the difference as SACHS seems to offer both for my car.
The Middle disc and the two units together at the bottom are both SACHS.
The top one is aftermarket.
Second the price differences are extreme. Over 50%

I am in National Distribution of very high end audio / video integrations products.
I understand margin and the cost of doing business.
And the cost of just maintaining this forum.

I'm just looking for some answers, not a political or legal debate.
You fella's in the USA call it free speech I think.

Ah, my mistake. You're up North. No free shipping for you. And my apology.

You know, Bill V. is more or less a friction materials expert. So what he says is gospel. But, IMHO, you don't have to buy the farm. It's a good idea to replace the TO bearing and all that stuff when doing a clutch job, but you can buy the two units for a little over 400, I believe. And that's for Sachs.

I don't think having grooves vs. no grooves amounts to much. Some disc friction materials benefit more than others with the grooves because of gassing and sticking. I spent a half hour looking for info on this and have no further info except that grooves on a disc are simply a proprietary factor for each manufacturer.
