Media blasting struts
Got my replacement struts yesterday (from Tony - another Pelican). I was wanting to clean these up and was not sure if I could media blast them or not. I will be using my existing inserts if I do not upgrade to a set of Bilsteins. I have searched through a lot of threads about the replacement job but can't find a definitive step-by-step write-up. I have a Bentley and Wayne's book. Are these two resources enough for this job? Part of the deal is once I get back to Rapid City to do this work, I will not have a lot of time to get her back on the road heading back to Tennessee. I need to have it go as smoothly as possible.
Any leads on a really good write-up would be greatly appreciated. Also, just wanted to again verify whether or not it was OK to media blast these and repaint? Thanks,

By all means, blast and paint them.

Tape off the spindles and have at it. I usually tape off the strut insert as well to keep the media out. I finish the top lip tape line with a wire wheel.

Once I break down the strut assy, when I blast it, do I need to keep the internal side of the strut tube protected from eth media? Or is the spindle the only thing that should not be blasted?
Thanks
