Do I need an O2 sensor on my 86 Carrera?

Looking for opinions on whether or not I need an O2 sensor on my 86 Carrera.

I've added a Steve Wong chip, European Racing Headers into dual SuperTrapps.

Car run great. Question is though would it run better if I were to reconnect the O2 sensor?

Appreciate the feedback

Did it have an O2 sensor hooked up at one time? Is the SW chip programmed for an O2 sensor?

If the sensor is working correct then just leave it, if not, like in mine, I took it out and had SW tweak the chip without it.

02

your 02 is the tattle tale of your complete fuel injection sytem on a motronic car. your carrara has a throttle swich that puts 02 into open loop (N0 02 feedback) when giving it the gas, so it has no effect on wot performance, but it will make your car get A LOT better fuel mileage, run cleaner, and your motor will LAST longer. why do you want to dissable it?

+1 on what don gilbert said. There are more reasons to keep the sensor than not. IF your car was an SC that would be a different story. The car will idle much smoother with the 02 as well.

It's a track car and you have a SW chip. Not knowing what the chip was programed for, unhooked is the safe option. SW is the only one that can really say if it should be hooked up or not.
