CIS Injector Sleeve question

I'm working on my 3.0 CIS and I have found that several of my injector sleeves have cracks in them. The cracks are usually in the top where the injector would sit against it but some are vertical cracks in the bottom of the sleeves. I am pretty sure these arent suppose to be there since this is a vaccum system so do I replace all of the questionable sleeves or whats the verdict?
Thanks as always
Keith

Most of them broke when I popped them out anyway. I'll order a complete new set.

+1 on Replace them all w/ new o-rings... If you have the intake off the engine, file off the detents in the AL intake pipes after you remove the old sleeves. Insert new sleeves and then use an automatic center punch to make new detents.

If your intake is still on the car I would be very careful filing off anything at all... If you choose to, fill the intake with rags or paper towels and then use a shop-vac before and when you remove the towels to prevent any filings from making their way down into the combustion chamber.

Best regards,

Michael

I have the entire CIS off the car. I had an oil leak at the oil pressure switch so I fixed the common 3 things back there then ran into this. and I found a few bad vac. lines too...... Oh well..it should run better this summer...

I DID grind off those little tabs that hold the sleeves and I already had new (Pelican) O rings for the injectors and sleeves. Guess I get to make a new shopping list now..what about injectors? Are they usually OK or how do I tell if they need replaced too?

I just did this. Look for a local fuel injection shop and they will test and refurbish your existing injectors...cost about $100 but they came back looking new and included a big spec sheet of before and after pressures.

While you are in there...

1. Look for any cracks or separations in your air box.
2. Replace the intake manifold gaskets
3. Replace the rubber boots going from the air box to the intake runners.

The overwhelming favorite for injector refurbishing seems to be a company called Witch Hunter. I've never used them, but everybody seems to love them.

Yep, thats who I used. I think it was $100-$120 for the set. They only do mail in orders so even though I don't live far away, I had to mail them in. Turn around time was VERY quick! Injectors came back looking like new with new seals...however I found that their seals were too stiff to get into the manifold sleeves but I had an extra set from Pelican and they worked fine.
