Where to add Seafoam to intake on 3.0
I want to add Seafoam to the intake but I am not sure where the best vacuum line is to do that. The easiest access the better. Help with pics are appreciated.

Why don't you just add it in the gas tank? What are you trying to do by adding it into a vacuum line?

Pull a vacumm line before the intake manifold to see if you have vacumm then use that one. My 3.2 is has a different set up than your 3.0 but that is what I did.
Take caution, stuff is like acetone to your paint and the vacumm work pretty quickly. Turn off immediately after the portion goes in.

Thanks DRACO.
I removed the blower and found several rubber hoses. Pulled one off the back of the intake and found suction. Put the Seafoam in and let it site for 20 minutes. Fired it up and smoked for about 7 minutes. Drove it for about five minutes and returned home. Runs great with no lag in throttle response and doesn't smoke on startup any more. Added a little Seafoam in the oil and gas tank. This stuff is AMAZING! Last edited by redstormcoach; 02-07-2009 at 09:13 AM.. |

I used the vacuum advance line on the distributor. Don't know if you have one.
But if you do it is very accessible and easy. |

After adding to the oil...
True. When I changed my oil it was black. Must have cleaned everything in the system out.

I've heard great things about seafoam, but I had a very bad experience in my 125K BMW 535I, used it once in the oil type application and the car blew out so much crap I was elated, drained the oil refilled and it burnt a quart every 400 miles and never stopped smoking. That is why I will never put it into my 911, very scared of the same results. Follwed directions to the T, agian everybody swears by the stuff, I personally am afraid to ever do it again.

I agree....personally I would only use it as a gas addative and defer to Techron....

Oh my, change it quickly that is the only step that should have been omitted. No Seafoam in oil for our Air Cooled babys.

what is the purpose? to break up carbon deposits on the pistons? i suspect i have a lot of carbon build up and had heard of putting water in the intake while running and it will break it up.
when the seafoam goes in, do u keep it running or are u turning the motor off to let it sit?

As soon as the Seafoam was sucked in I let is run for 30 seconds then turned the engine off. I let it sit for 20 minutes then started it up. It smoked for about 7 minutes at idle then I took it for a spin for about 5 minutes.
