3.6 conversion WOT resolution by hacking gas pedal okay?
I also noticed that I was not getting WOT after 3.6 conversion into my 84.
Thought about extending bell crank by the tranny, but what the heck, I went to the gas pedal and hack sawed the 1 inch high stopper. Now with the extra 1 inch travel for the gas pedal, I get 90+% throttle. Obvious short cut but am I too lazy, or is this an acceptable okay resolution? I tried search to see if I could find anyone else taking this path but my search technique yielded nothing thus wanted ask... ![]() ![]()

I did it and between that and linkage adjustment I was able to get WOT.

CAREFUL with this mod!!!
When you cut that plastic stop off the back of the pedal, you may be over extending the range of motion on the accel link on the pedal assy. What may happen is that the link gets pushed to the side under hard foot application and get stuck under the edge of the tunnel metal . Then you have "unintended WOT accel" !!!! Always best to have a pedal board with a proper throttle stop to limit the range of motion. Adjust the throttle rods first to see if you can get WOT Ryan- check your car for what i described above

Thanks for the input Dave, I'll definitely get my head in there and double check everything.
hmm, I did have a a/c hose clamp screw that the linkage would slightly catch on, but it was corrected and in the process of troubleshooting that I looked at everything pretty thoroughly. The pedal board itself kind of acts as the stop and I do have 15k miles on it now, so hopefully I'm good to go. Edit: fwiw, there was no way that I was going to get WOT by adjusting the linkage alone.

thank you for the feedback.
I pretty much did what Ryan went through. I totally respect Dave's input and I'll be careful. So far so good though. I have carefully checked (in the garage while car sitting however) that there is no sticky point at the gas pedal. The pedal board is there to stop the pedal going uncomfortably forward, if you know what I mean, and seems like the pedal movement is within the 'range.' I also did try to extend the rod but I'm already down to about five threads and don't want to go any less than that. If things start go south - hopefully not the catastrophic one Dave suggested - I'd go and extend the bell crank by the tranny. it was icy this morning and i couldn't floor it but hopefully i feel the change...the power and the roar. it seems it's starting to dry out so proly on my way home later this evening...
