??Vinyl dyes?? and ???seat belts???

Anyone have any recs re vinyl dyes. I have some black vinyl that I would like to redo dark blue.

also

anyone have a source of a strap type seat belt that is compatible w/ the oems. It'd be be real convienient to use a straped female recepticale for the tunnel side that is compatible w/ the stock malle door side.

Bill,

THe question of vinyl dies came up a week or so ago....I have some experience with using a vinyl spray paint. I changed the interior from brown to black. I used any spray from the auto shop in a rattle can. The advice that was given to me was to spray lightly with a few coats and as soon as you see the colour covered STOP! Most people put an extra layer no and this is what creates issues. The vinyl on mine is about 4-5 years old now and is perfect....Oz has a very harsh sun and it has survived until now so the advice is good. No surewhat products you have available to you in US. Best of luck.

Mark...

Bill due a search on leather seat dyeing there is a really good right up with several high end dye recommendations. The key is in the prep. I think the dye works for leather and vinyl.

I've used the spray dye. I got mine from a reputable auto paint store. They highly recommended a primer/prep spray that I used and two years later and still looks new! These were in low wear areas - door panels and back panel.

Leatherique or colorplus for a higher quality job. I used colorplus on an interior restoration for an older Jag. www.colorplus.com

SEM dye

Bill;

I used SEM vinyl dye on my dash. It was ugly cork color and part of it was charred from a dash fire. After I repaired the lower part of the dash, I thoroughly cleaned the dash of any silicone, used SEM vinyl prep and gave the dash 2 coats of brown. Came out great. Dash looks like new.

I used SEM products on my 1971 BMW 2002.As mentioned,prep is the key and SEM has a product for that.It's holding up well after several years on my door panels,headliner,armrests etc.

I used the stuff you find at Kragen and I can't believe how well it came out. I'm still shocked 8 years later.
