71E resto update

It's been a while, but I've been hard at work on my 71E. finally got the suspension installed, as well as some of the cosmetic parts, like wheel well trim, window trim, etc. Found a nice Becker Europa II to replace the Clarion 8-track. Dropped it down its tires today, to check the baseline setup/ride height. (it's been up on stands for a year). (scope out those vintage Bridgestone Steel Belted Radials..surprised that they still hold air.) Had to take a few pix to celebrate. note the engine, on the stand, in the background. Set up with carbs to run it in, then I'll install the MFI (also in the background) and dial that system in. 1st time I've had an MFI system.......I like to try to debug one thing at a time, if I can. Still have some exterior stuff to finish and then Fuchs and interior are next.

regards,

Al

Al, everything looks great! You'll be cruising by summer.

Are you going to run in the engine on the stand or in the car?

Rich,
On the test stand. The engine and stand are wired up and pretty much ready to go. I have one or two bugs to work out and then there will be fire....I hope. I'm looking forward to tuning the MFI.

Marv,
Thanks for the kind words. The test stand is actually designed for V-8's, but I adapted it.

regards,
al

Looks great, I have a 71 Targa I am putting backtogether.
Love the Becker Europa some have the seperate amp that in the mid - late 60s were wired for a mini jack for the MP3 player. Just a tip on the Europa, MBZ put them into sedans by the thousands, if looking for one try a junk yard and look for 250 - 280 S, SE, SEL, there are more of them out there than the ever built Porsches in that era and the yards are not as proud of them as the p car stuff.
Keep up the good work!!

Great detail on the suspension.

Do you have mfi tools. Do books give diy best perf? Did you have to send mfi away to be cleaned?

Regards,
