It probably got dropped into the oil tank. The filler neck has a tube for it but it is hard to hit accurately.

Many people buy a new one after dropping it in the tank. When the next owner does a resto, he finds the spares.

Welcome to the best Porsche BBS on earth.

With the engine lid open and facing the engine, look to your right.

Along the fender wall is a removable cap that is sticking out the of the wall. That is your oil tank and the dipstick should be in there once you remove the cap.

The dipstick is located inside/under the oil fill cap. If the dipstick is not present in its' little "holder", it is either misplaced or fallen into the tank. If this is the case, get a telescoping magnet and send it down the filler neck. If not, just purchase a new dipstick and be on your way. No need to worry about a loose dipstick in the oil tank.

Welcome to the board! If you did not know where the dipstick was, Make sure that you check the oil HOT with the engine at idle for at least a minute on level ground other wise you will overfill the tank leading to a huge mess! Nice looking car
