Anyone know the part number for relay under the passenger seat 1983 SC?

It is located next to the computer under passenger seat and I think it runs the frequency valve. I have had intermittent trouble on cold starts. When the problem arises I can't here the frequency valve running. I took the relay out yesterday, and even though the coil in the relay was good it would not close under 12 volts. After a few trys and a little tapping on it, it started to work again.

Robert, the only relay that I can find in the parts & technical reference catalog that might be a candidate is described as the acceleration enrichment relay with part number 911 617 131 01. Unfortunately, its location isn't given but it does connect using eight pins arranged in a circle, so if this isn't the arrangement on yours then this is not the right one. It isn't a red or black standard relay is it?

No Rod, this one has 5 or 6 spades on it and is a square aluminum colored relay. Must be an uncommon relay. Pelican doesnt list it either.

This is the infamous o2 sensor relay (as recently discussed by Mr. Walker, ie: "your car will run like crap without it").
The part number is 821 951 253

BTW...John W is a 911-genius! I pulled the relay as an experiment, and just as he said, the car ran like crap! I'm putting a spare in the toolkit this week.

For such a small part it sure caused me enough headaches! And it really wasn't the relay that was faulty. More like the wrench (me) and a bad luggage comp switch that shorted and blew fuses. And be aware as I learned from JW (who was one of the kind people to help me), that the 02 relay is wired into the interior light, clock, glove comp light, and luggage compartment light circuit. If that fuse is blown, as mine was, the 02 relay will not get power. And it WILL run like @%$&! Why they wired that relay into that circuit I don't know. Those switches in the doors and to a lesser degree the luggage compartment (unless you're a Targa owner like myself) take a beating from repeated use. And I guess they just short out like mine did. Now I can watch TV instead of climbing over the engine at midnight looking for the problem...in the rain. Eventhough the relay was ok, I'm still gonna lay down the bucks and get a spare. It causes multiple problems and grey hairs if it ain't workin.
