Door latch woes...

Hey guys:

I'm sneaking in the back door here, having spent all my time on the 911 Turbo forum because that's where my focus is, but I'm looking for a larger audience and experience base for something that should be common to us all, turbo vs. non turbo alike.

Three questions on the topic of malfunctioning passenger door latches:
1. In power window/power door lock cars, is it true that the entire window frame and glass needs to come out in order to remove the latch assembly?
2. Has anyone disassembled and repaired the mechanism?
3. Are the internal parts the same in a power lock vs. manual lock mechanism?

The issue is that my driver's side door latch won't latch closed unless considerable pressure is put on the door in a steady push...otherwise, it just bounces back open. And the latch has only a one-click action, whereas the latch on my passenger side has a two-click action and closes gently with a quiet "snick" as it should. I'm thinking rebuild or replacement time is in order (yes, I've adjusted everything else...window frame and striker plate).

Your thoughts and experiences would be helpfull. If these can be taken apart and rebuilt, I'll start looking for use assemblies to canabalize. Thanks in advance.

I had problems with the latch assembly. Mine was sticking closed . You would open the door then you couldn't shut it becasue the latch would stay shut. Took it out and a tech at the local porsche garage told me to soak it over night in some oil. It was fine after I did this and reinstalled it. not sure about the electrical part.

Make certain it is not the Door Handle Mechanism. I recent replaced my trigger and the plunger (for a lack of a better word for it) was too long freezing up my latch closed.

I used a flash light and peered into the door with the panel off of course and watched and felt the movement. Low and behold the plunger was too long so removed the handle and I shaved it down about 1/4 inch and works perfectly.

Keep the door open and see how the travel of the plunger is when you pull the trigger.

Yes, I have power locks. When the plunger was too long it would not allow the lock to engage when I pressed my remote.
