MSD Ignition help

Hi All

I have a MSD 6AL ignition in my car and was wondering if I could use the stock ignition wires (spark plug leads) with it. I checked Wayne's book but it's unclear about this.

I have a custom set of MSD super conductor wires on the car at the moment but I'm not completely happy with their fit and operation. I'm considering going to a Magnacore set (from our host) but I would rather use the stock ones as I never had a problem with them. (so why did I go MSD? )

Anyways... Fiddle as I must.... Please give me some feedback about your own experiences. Is anybody running the MSD ignition with the stock wires?

Some notes: According to MSD you should not use solid core wires with their ignitions.
I know the stock wires I have are solid core (with resistance built in at either end)... Do these resistors make it possible to use these wires with an MSD?

Wayne: If you have time, Please clarify. Thanks in advance! (I know you're busy)

I would run the Magnacores. I use them and have no issue. I am not 100% sure about an MSD with stock wires, but IIRC they won't work. I could be wrong, it has been know to happen

Also not sure about stock wires, but I can tell you I have Clewitts and an MSD 6AL and mine works fine.

Stock wires do not work properly with MSD, -- my experience. Also MSD instructions suggest 8.5 mm wires.

MSD rotor mod

Up for a new question...

I've hear about the MSD rotor mod and I want to do this to mine.

I have a pretty clear idea of what to do.

Cut out the resistor in the rotor with a Dremel,
Bridge the rotor tip with the contact centre with a piece of copper,
Soldered in place and seal with some high strength epoxy.

Does anybody have any pics of this mod for interest and ideas?
