So I pulled the Distributor...

I pulled the distributor on my 1985 Carrera yesterday. I don't think it has ever been out before. I replaced the rotor & cap and decided the distributor needed some cleaning. The O-ring on the distributor was almost the same color as the rotor & cap. Is that the factory original O-ring?

I noticed the old parts were all made in Germany, the new Bosch parts were all from Spain. All the parts were purchased from our host. Everything is working great so far.

Mine was that color and the replacement was black.

As I mentioned I bought the parts from our host. Here is a link to the parts.

The new O-ring is black. I just wonder if the old one was from 1985.

there are some good threads on rebuilding around

if over 100k miles of wear it's at least a consideration?

My O ring was so worn the distributor came out with no resistance (I had heard the horror stories of trying to pull the dizzy). It was also leaking oil.

Put the O ring on (new one was black, old was orange'ish) and there was a HUGE difference getting the dizzy back in.
