Build an early RSR on a 993 donor ?

Has anyone ever built a '72 long hood RSR replica using a 993 as a donor car?

Is the wheelbase the same? How about the glass and doors? Would for example an MA Shaw RSR body kit fit up reasonably well on a 993 stripped of all its outer bodywork or are there major issues?

I know Aircooled Classics did one on a 964 which is basically the same.

According to Porsche the only body panel that was the same on a 993 was the Roof. Of course that doesn't mean the tub wasn't similiar.

But by the roof being the same does that mean the A and B pillars are the same and thus all the glass is the same?

Is the front chassis on a 993 such that a long hood and RSR bumper could be adapted to bolt on or would it preclude that?

The hood is higher at the front than a 911 or 964. Top and doors are the same as the A,B & C pilars

Converting a 993 to 73 RSR is major surgery
1) hood line is raised: This means slicing a longitudinal cut along the sealing rail, removing metal, and welding it back up. Front latch panel should be replaced with 964 version
2) oil and a/c cooling system mods- both will need to be lowered slightly
3) complete rear quarter panels welded in place
4) rear latch panel mods, rear reflector area mods
5) exhaust system mods
6) rear decklid hinges - swap out for 964 or mod to fit the ducktail/iroc tail choses
7) front fenders
8) front and rear bumper mountings- fabricate and install
9) remove rocker panel covers, mod the chassis indentations, close off holes, figure out what you want exposed (oil cooler and a/c lines) and how to deal with that
10) mirrors- choose what to do with those
11) install factory style front RSR cooler chin spoiler to hide the section of chassis exposed with the shorter 73 bumper
12) custom offset wheels
13) and a myriad of small details

cost guesstimate inc full paint? level of quality dependent, but in the range of 35-50k by the time you are done

Take a look at this thread 993->964 backdate

I could have easily made this 993 look like/similar to an early RSR.

993/965

The main problem if my car was backdated to RSR would be the wheels.

On what planet is a 964 basically the same as a 993?
