Given the fact that San Fran is loaning money to the state of CA, you may get money from the city...

Scottb,
No disrespect intented, but you must have bumped your head.
I would agree if your statement was about our men in blue who protect and serve...However...
Unfortunately, I have multiple first hand experiences with both; with each species of parasite just managing to rise to the rank of RAT BA$TARD$
Finding an honest, respectful tow company is like finding an honest, respectful attorney. Without a referral, you may as well bend over and spread em.
Nuff said.
This guy is something else, he talks about respect and honesty and he is trying to hijack my thread with this garbage and hasn't contributed anything of any use.

like any other profession, there are the deplorable among lawyers. If you do not do your homework to find a good attorney and then generalize your awful experience onto the rest of the profession, then your stereotypes are purely a reflection of your own weak mind.

Yo buttock; er ah, botox,
If you feel the need to have to defend your profession, perhaps you're in the wrong profession. All this defense comming from an "out of work" attorney! I guess that answers the question regarding you being one of the "GOOD" ones. Is that what you meant by doing ones' homework?

I have yet to meet an attorney; whether it be administrative law, divorce law, criminal law, or corporate law, who does not look to pad his or her pockets at the expense of the less fortunate. And by less fortunate, I mean those who would need the services of an attorney.

I work extensively with attorneys through various litigation actions that our company faces (we are a construction and industrial services provider). I have always found them, in the strong majority, to be intelligent, professional and honest. Agree that there are some real losers in every profession, but my experience has shown that many attorneys don't fit that mold.

As for the parking damage, I hope you are able to win proper damages. A little bit of care on the tow operator's part is likely all that was needed.

a). First off, good luck with your claim, I kinda think you'll win out eventually. Sorry to hear about it.
2). My wheel locks in a bit less than an eighth of a turn.
...and c). Quote: "I think you mean subrogation." Well, as for "segregation", I trust that word should apply here, specifically when used in comparing towing companies with attorneys, especially in this instance, with you on one side of the courtroom, the defendant(s) on the other.....

I would bet that most 'attorney haters' were either involved in a bad divorce, or broke the law. Either way, my advice would be to get some counseling or get over it already.

That's what I recall! but in a different thread that I started on this specific question people are saying 1/4 turn is normal, so I am at a loss for an answer here because I am fairly certain my lock didn't allow that much play before the tow.

Agreed. I thought that such extreme views on attorneys as Nine9six holds only exist in anecdotes and jokes. Maybe he did have an exceptionally bad experience with the legal profession, but even if that is the case it is no excuse to be making the comments against me that he is making here, it's simply uncalled for. Even if there was a tow-truck driver on this forum I would not have the requisite disrespect to make comments of that nature on a public forum on his own thread.

Thanks.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck with the towing company. If they were that careless, I'd have your struts and tie-rods inspected for straightness, too. It seems possible that the forces on the a-arms could have tweaked the pan a bit, as well. A close inspection by a good mechanic should isolate the issues.

It would be annoying to be aware of this damage and overlook some other potential issue.

I agree, enough of the lawyer stuff. I would put the tow company's insurance company on notice before any more time goes by.

What you need to prove is simply that anyone who would drive a car like this is not going to drive it in this condition. For all of this to occur in this short window, with the two truck driver standing there with his hand out is too convenient.

Photos of the damage to the "A" frame with dirt/dust removed, same with the wheel well and so showing the damage to be recent should suffice. Bring a couple of witnesses with you who have ridden in the car recently who can state that the steering wheel was centered when driving and that there was no play in the locking system of the wheel.

I feel bad that your car was damaged. But wouldn't all this have been avoided if you didn't park illegally to begin with? Seems to me you created a situation and they cleaned it up, and accidently caused damage.

Oh my God! This is getting better and better, I had no idea of the kind of ignorance that sweeps these forums. Maybe they should have taken my car and cut off my right foot as well since I am clearly the one who did the first wrong in this situation.

Those who are more experienced users of this forum, are these the types of "troll" comments that one should ignore and not get involved with or are these people serious?

And I really do appreciate everyone else's comments, I have read over them several times and taken notes.

Many thanks

This also happened to a customer's Audi ur-quattro once. He had the good sense to have an appraisal made when the car was painted attesting to it's then near perfect state. After tow damage he had both an expert mechanic and body shop perform estimates...I think this is what you need to do....and then make your case. It always made me think how smart that guy was to have the appraisal in hand as part of his insurance plan....just as you would for grandma's engagement ring.

You need not respond to unhelpful posts.

I guess your first mistake was to park illegally, the 2nd was to mention that you were an attorney . . .

I sincerely hope you get your car fixed. I've watched tows where the Tow Truck driver should have been arrested for destroying property. It is pitiful what municipalities let these sharks get away with.

ATBS, maybe you should start two more threads, one called How do you feel about Tow Truck Companies; and another called What are your feelings about Attorneys?

Good Luck in your pursuit.

Do you feel the same way about doctors? If you were very sick and needed a doctor (i.e., less fortunate), and didn't have insurance or couldn't afford to pay, do you think your doctor would treat you for free? Would you consider him to be a "rat bastard" if he refused?

Of course attorneys get paid for their services, and people generally don't need the services of an attorney until they're in trouble (i.e., got arrested, got sued, etc.) Does this mean the attorney is taking advantage of someone "less fortunate?" Of course not. The attorney is simply providing a service to someone who needs it. And, the attorney is entitled to be paid for his services.

Let me see if I can put it in terms you'll relate to -- If you smashed your Porsche into a wall, you'd need the services of a body shop. By your definition, that makes you "less fortunate." Is the body shop taking advantage of someone "less fortunate" by charging for its services? Again, of course not.

Have a nice day!

tough room eh scottb? Personally if your a "rat bastard" then I'd say sign me up for two more like you.
As for the numb nut who had his car towed, you got what you had coming for not reading the parking sign, or do Porsche driving out of work attorneys not have to follow the rules like the rest of us? Maybe you should point out also that your radio reception has diminished considerably since it was removed from the roadway where it was illegally parked.

I don't understand the whole "attorney bashing" thing. When used properly, attorneys are worth their weight in gold...

The guy parked illegally and he deserves a ticket and a tow, but not to have his property destroy.
