Carrera oil cooler lower mount in a SC
doing research on the procedure for mounting a carrera oil cooler in my 1981 SC. I'm reading along in Wayne's 101 book and I see the lower oil cooler bracket has to be welded in? Has anyone ever bolted it in? can a bracket be fabricated for this?
I plan on having the car on jack stands and the wheel removed. not the time to "just drive over to a welder and have them weld it on" I did a search and could not find any info about this. I don't have a welder but I have all the other parts. Might sell this setup and go with a front mounted cooler. Thanks!

Oil Cooler Mount.......
This is how I mounted an aftermarket cooler in the wheelwell of my SC:
The first picture is of the completed bracket mounted in the wheelwell. This picture shows the cooler mounted using the vibration isolators: ![]() This is a picture of the hand made dirt/stone shield: ![]() I think that I wound up having to drill 2 holes in the fender.

I bolted mine in and used a coule of nylon spacers to position it.
You won't have the battery box to deal with on the SC, but I assume the inner fender shape is the same. Joe

I too bolted on the Carrera lower mount on my '77. No biggie. I guess the hardest part is getting the mounting location correct. It would help if you had another Carrera to look at.

I bolted mine as well. I also had to reposition it. When I first installed it I could not source a Carrera horn bracket. The SC horn bracket interferes with the fan assembly and so I had occasional tire rub. I finally found a Carrera bracket on ebay and installed it and repositioned the lower bracket this winter.

Don't forget about the upper mount that attaches to the back of the headlight bucket. On my car I bolted the upper mount to the back of my fiberglass bucket.
