Galen, I admire your persistence. Remember this sage advice as you move forward:

"The most expensive 911 is the one you get for free."

So, if you're just about average at DIY type stuff - GO FO IT. Get a welder (about a 150amp unit from Clarke) and angle grinder, and the panels from eurocarparts (really cheap and fit well), Pelican, and ebay.

Well said! Galen, we are here for you and no one will think less of you for taking on any kind of project... well, if you put a Chevy in it there are some that wont talk to you anymore Outside of that, the more rust you fix on a car the more your reputation builds Frankly, that SC is not that bad compared to some of the early cars we have seen restored here. But, keep in mind that there may be more where you have not seen it.

oh, welding is really fun! the first thing I made was a birthday present for my dad. It was a steak brander in the shape of his initials. Totally had a blast making it. Welds looked like bird poop, but they held. There are some really professional welders here so pick their brains and all will be well.

Best regards,

Michael

The car now looks stunning. There are now no signs of rust anywhere and it's just had a full respray in red - GORGEOUS.

"hear. hear" Now THAT'S more like it, and in essence, exactly what I did with my car (although I wasn't on the tools). For the record, my car is back in action for a couple of months now and I couldn't be happier!

Galen,
Also try posting on www.impactbumpers.com in the UK. As with this forum you'll get loads of useful advice and people will be happy to check cars out for you to save too many trips over from Ireland, as well as recommending available cars.

Good luck

Ian
