wont idle after rev up

77 911 2.7 ok i just installed a crane xr700 ignition sytem after messing around with it for week i found out i needed a coil that would run the system. After it starts up runs ok, but really cant get the timing right. and when i rev it up it wont stay running as the rpm drop, it shuts down but starts right back up. but i really have to move the distributor all the way to one side to get it too rev up, if i get it to say the middle of the adjustment on the holddown it runs good but it wont rev up stays at the same idle, also i did remove the distributor when i put the ignition assy in. can i be a tooth off when i put it back in? this is driving me crazie thanks for anyhelp

Have you done it once more? Did you loosen and readjust the hold down? Put a light on it to see deg at idle and 6000 rpm? Does this replace your CDI and points?

Have fuel system buttoned up?

Good luck.

Center of brass on rotor contact area with the notch on the distributor and with loose #1 rocker.

What is your setting at idle?

yeah thats what i thought i really cant get it to the center of the brass on the rotor, unless i move the housing almost all the way in one direction. then i have no adjustment that way i been trying to get it to line up in the middle of the holddown adjustment but its either right before the brass or right after, i dont know about the seting at idle i cant get it started now, do you know how to adjust the idle mixture screw on the left side over by the throttle linkage ? thanks
