Rattling Fuchs Center Caps--how to fix?

I can hear my center caps rattling while driving --any easy fixes?

Keep driving until they finally fall off, then buy a new one. I had one that was doing that, and before I had a chance to find a fix it, the rivets let go and it fell off. New ones aren't that expensive.

They are riveted to the backing plate that fits in the rim, so I don't know how you would get RTV in there without dismantling. Maybe a small spot weld on the rivets would fix it?

RTV is high temp silicone gasket material.

If the backing ring and cap (whole cap assembly) is loose or rattling, this worked for on a few sets of Fuchs. very simple.

Take cap out and find little dimples on the retaining ring that hold the cap in. They may be covered in grim and hard to find but they are there. Using a small punch, make the dimples a little bigger (renew them) by tapping them with hammer and punch from the inside of the retaining ring. Gently... not too much or you wont get the caps back in. Just a little bit will be fine. That tightens them up. Get it so the caps will only fit back in with a good 'slap' and they wont go anywhere.

I'm not sure what type of caps you have, but when mine were rattling the face was loose on the retaining ring. Here's what I did:

Remove centercap. Make sure face is clean, and lay face down on a smooth piece of wood.
With a hammer and center punch, make a dimple in each of the nubs that come through the retaining ring. This will make them spread out and tighten against the retaining ring.
Voila!

Edit: I see you have an SC, which probably has the ring type like mine, so I think this should work for you.
