Speaking of powder coating. I just powder coated the fan and housing this weekend when I was in their finishing the valve adjustment. I have always has a noise coming from what we thought was the alternator. A couple years ago I replaced the alt. but the noise continued. While my parts were curing in my powder coating oven I read the entry on warp-age. Thought "oh no, I just ruined the parts". Turns out the parts are fine but the housing being shiny now allowed me to see the source of my noise. Someone had put a fastener that was too long in the housing where the spark plug wire tie down is. It put a bulge on the inside of the housing that brushed against the fan. I carefully worked the bump out and now it runs a s smooth as silk and looks great.
