Set up for DE

Hello everyone, I'm kinda lost here Im looking for some pictures that show how to set up my seat belts in my 88 911. I want to have factory belts and 6 point for the track (got to keep it street legal). I will have a Das bolt in roll bar and Sparco Evo 2 seat. the seats will be bolted to the body with no sliders.. I think I loose the bolt point for the female part of the seatbelt by removing the factory seats! I have not bought anything yet because want to know how to do it before I order everything. Thanks for the help Kurt

Kurt,

PM me your email address,i did that whole setup this Summer on my 89 ...
Sparco EVO's, Das roll bar and Schroth 6 point harnesses.

If you hurry onto the Rennlist site there are two Brey Krause R9035 anti sub belt mounts for sale.
You will have to install those for your crotch belts, relocate your DME as well as install some Brey Krause tunnel mount brackets which will allow you to keep your OEM belts.Anyhow,if you want pictures and info, let me know !

Cheers !
Phil

This is the part used on RS models for the tunnel side stock seat belt receptacle

these are used for the 6 pt connections on the tunnel side

the bolt is 959.803.701.00
a washer N011.655.2
also 999.028.014.02 spring washer is used

installed it looks like this

you will also need 999.025.231.03 x6 washer 8x27x3 to level the seat at the other corners

you can use the pad eyes for the subs or a GT3 sub harness bar if you sanctioning body allows it

the issue for the shoulder s is height relative to the seat holes and the roll bar attachment point, you will want a straight fetch through the seat holes to the bar

on the door side use an eye that co-attaches to the stock seat belt bolt

Need more!

Thanks Bill Verburg, Your description and photos are great. My only problem is I'm not going to have a seat slider. I'm tall and the difference between having a slider and not is the difference of me fitting in the car. Does anyone have a way to keep the stock seat belts for street use when adding 6 points and seats. It can't be all that hard?

It's difficult to see in this pic but Southbound Trimmers makes this sidemount set which can be bolted directly to the floor, the fitting for the seat belt bolt is part of the tunnel side sidemount, this is the way the current generation of GT3/Cayman R does it

Having run both 5pts and 3pts for the street for 5 years or so in my SC with Sparco Pro 2000 seats I would have to say the 3pts just got in the way. I finally ditched them completely and if I drive the car on the street then I just strap in the 5 pts and be done with it.

The 3pts have to thread through the outside seat holes so they are permanently run through the seat. This was because the sides of the seat were tall enough that the lap belt did not snug up on me unless it came through the hole. This was a pain as the lap belts for the 5pts also go through those holes.

So... IMHO just ditch the 3pt belts and use your 6pts. I am sure there will be counter arguments about safety and such, but seriously, would you rather be in a harness that is new or 25 year old 3pt belts? You can always leave 1 shoulder off the harness if you feel you need to have that 3pt fold at the waist capability :| but you already have a roll bar and full race buckets... LOL

Whether to keep 3 pts or not is more of a legal thing, In some areas of the US 3pts are mandatory even though 5 or 6 is arguably superior.

The 3pts do not have to go through the seat holes, the 5/6 point laps do, it depends on the strappee's body, the seat bolster height and the tunnel side receptacle length.

the thicker the pelvis region of the strappee the more likely not to have to go through the seat holes

The lower the bolster the more likely not to have to go through the seat hole
PP & RS seats have relatively low bolsters

The taller the receptacle height the less likely to have to go through the seat hole

Here are 3 different receptacles, there are several others too

Here's some better pics of the Southbound Trimmers sidemeounts

I guess I'm not thick enough, Bill! I may be after tomorrow though... LOL Yeah the Pro 2000 bolsters are really high. Even more so when you take out the seat bottoms. I got the widest I could get at the hip though.

I think if you are interested in really keeping the 3pts you should look at buying a seat like the Recarro SRD that has an open hip. It seems to be the seat of choice for dual purpose cars. I'm not sure there is a fixed back seat with short bolsters.

Yeah the receptacle is tough for you Carrera guys. My SC had them welded in on the tunnel so I had no issues. Even then it was a bit too long and could jam on the seat if it was situated just so. More of a pain... *shrug* To each their own!

Ok, Tell me if this will work on my 88 911. Sparco Evo 2 seats, Sparco steel side mounts, RS seatbelt mount (for stock seatbelt, its a legal thing) all bolted directlty to the floor mounts (no track sliders). Has anyone done this setup? I would love a picture of this exact setup if you have. Thanks all
