brake reservoir overflow hose
On a 1974 911, where does the other end ,not connected to the reservoir, of this hose terminate?

Where does it go through the body? One of the through the body gromments by the headlight wires? Does it connect to anything or just drip on the ground?

if you forget to pinch the hose when pressure bleeding you will see exactly how it exits :-)

And make sure it exits low and away from any part of the body. I had to repair the front bulkhead on mine because the overflow tube didn't reach low enough, dribbled down the outside of the bulkhead and eventually ate away the undercoating, paint and metal.

Guys all great responses and very true. BUT WHERE/HOW does it go through the body? Mine doesn't currently have a hose so I can't compare to anything, parts manuals are no help. Seems hard to believe that as sophisticated as these cars are that it would just go through anywhere and drip on the ground (?).

There is a separate hole with a grommet ahead of the fuse panel. The hose follows the front light harness until it reaches above the battery.

I always thought there were better ways to vent the MC then to empty it onto painted metal or the atmosphere. Unless your vent hose path is in the concours category, I suggest attaching the open end of the tube into a container/catch can. I've seen a 35mm film canister perform that duty. Be creative.

Milt, Harry and Sherwood thanks for the help. I have never noticed the hole up in the front of the bulkhead. I will take a look. Sherwood that is what I was thinking seems suprising with all the engineering that goes into these cars that it would just vent to the atmosphere. I may try something with the evaporation can in the left wheel well that is no longer being used since I have converted to carbs. It may be too high for a gravity drain, I will see.

As Sherwood suggests, just run the tube into a small plastic bottle or similar and place it somewhere convenient. Here's mine. Tube is a friction fit thru a hole in the top. Small is fine for street or light track use; you'll want something bigger to do a 6 hour enduro!
