hmmm... seems to expensive....
heavy mods, but not necessarily the big money mods (not like its an all alum small block)

inconsistent image is guess is my main issue.

need some better pictures... i'm constantly amazed at the poor pictures people think will sell their car.

sorry did not mean to post the same pic twice

I wonder what that engine does to the wieght distribution. Also wondered how reliable and what the needed adjustments are. $5000 -$6000 might be a good deal

Well, there are good ones and not so good ones, and this doesn't look like the former. Just my 2 cents from a superficial observation of a couple blurry pics.

IMHO, if you want a V8, just buy a 'vette. The flat 6 is a big part of what makes a 911 a 911.

PLEASE understand that I'm NOT criticizing those who do this type of conversion, it's just not my cup of tea.

People have been cramming bigger engines under the hoods of cars since the early days of hot rods, and sometimes the results are great (e.g. AC Ace + Ford V8 = Cobra).

But sometimes you just have to think: Just because one can do something, doesn't mean one should, does it? (Something I said when I saw the highly-customized Edsel low-rider at an auto show.)

Different strokes for different folks - that what makes our hobby interesting.

Seems to me it would be noisy, hot inside the car and not handle as well....In my book, if you want big HP, buy an American Muscle car.......

Seems like a deal to me, and consider that 9,500 is his asking price. For whatever price you end up agreeing on, it's still pretty cheap considering the custom work that went in to this, and the fun factor In CA, this is smog exempt, another bonus! It's a buyer's market right now...

If you can figure out a way to lose that huge tail I would consider it.

Engine weight is a bit less than a Porsche turbo motor, so with 375 HP or so and 2100-2200 pounds like the Red Idaho Slopenose 911 in the thread below, and with Porsche handling and braking, you have an economy supercar;

Another question about V8 conversions

+1. I just don't get why anyone would do this. If you want to stuff a V8 into something, why pick an old rear engine chassis design? As soon as you take out the H6, it's no longer a Porsche. So you're just left with a hacked up ass heavy sports car wannabe.

Just my opinion, of course.

I've always thought the idea of a 911 with a Buick Turbo 6 out back would be cool. Never seen one done like that though. The Buick motor should mount just like a Chevy small block. And 400 hp would be cheap.

I do not understand what tail that is. I run a 3.8RS tail, that does not look linke mine? I donot think it's a Porsche style tail? anyone??
The wheels are horrible in my opinion. Seems they took a bit of the "Porsche" away from this one.
The engine may be OK, and could possibly get some good quickness but again, what about the axle? Did they upgrade that? It does look like the guy put some thought to it though...

Not hacked up, not heavy assed, not a wannabe - really don't care what group may or may not accept it. 40lbs lighter than 930 Turbo engine. Big HP and torque at a small fraction of the price of Porsch-A parts. Interesting hot rod to have built. BTW - My present car is a 930.

All rear engined cars (..actually, a mid-engined car is technically a rear engined car, so..) all cars with motors behind the rear axle are ass heavy. That's kinda by definition.

Well it's not a Porsche anymore...so, call it what you will.

All I'm saying is, if you're going build a hot rod sports car, there are far better chassis to use than a 911. Don't get me wrong, I love my 911, but if I were starting from scratch, I sure wouldn't use it as a chassis for anything.

Ever drive a V8 911?

Mr. Expert on "Chassis":

Ever drive a properly built V8 911?

What did you think, notice any difference from a normal 911 or 930? Which transaxle did you use? Which R&P? Did the car know what powerplant was producing the 450HP? Did you notice the reduced 40lbs difference in the rear end weight? How about the added nose weight of the radiator contents? How much does it cost to go 200MPH with a V8 as opposed to a Porsche engine?

I will be sure to check with you before I start my next project.

EPS
