Rear 4x6 Speaker Solution

The rear speaker frames on my 87 Targa were cracked. I tried ordering replacements from the host but I ended up with an 88+ frame that didn't work with my grills. I decided to go aftermarket and given that the original paper speakers had holes in them a new set of speakers wouldn't hurt either.

I purchased a pair of Soundstream XT-462S on ebay for $40. The depth of the speakers is perfect and the frame/grill is nearly identical to the original size. I'm very pleased.

Nice tip, thank you. Could you post a larger picture please? Do you think that the original covers can still be used?
Also wondering if anything from their product range would fit the door speaker holes.

Click the picture and it will become much larger. I don't see why the original covers wouldn't fit over these speakers.

I believe the front door speakers are 5.25" so unless there is a rear depth issue these Soundstreams should work.

Much better than the paper stock speakers but they were extremely weathered. Not much bass but I'm not sure any 4x6 is capable of much.
