Congratulations on your purchase of the elusive Lamborgheetle.
Sure, you're going to have Civic DXs eating your lunch, but at least you'll look good doing it. If this is Mike or one of the other jokers having a late April 1 joke on us, then well played. |

>>If you like the car as an "image car", and want to learn more about these classics -
Yup that's how Im thinkin now...perfect car for stylin thru college then Ill make some doh and make it kick ass fast. Chicks at college dont care how fast it is just how it looks at da club LOL! >>Great! But I kind of get the impression you might be happier in a different car, say a modified WRX. No way...only spoilt college frat boys drive them. Porsche is just my style. OK I will go to the 912 board then. I dont have $7500 for a 911 motor thats more than my car! The dude I bought it from said I should do a Rennegate Chevy conversion if I want more power for cheap which is what he was gonna do with it but taht sounds like a ton of work. Not to mention why put a Chevy motor in a Porsche. Byby 912 hatuz LOL! Just kiddin thanks for your help. |

A college student who doesn't know the difference between a 911 and a 912, but has decided "Porsche is just [more] my style" ? Makes me want to go back to classic British sports cars. I fear for our collective future. (BTW, I agree this is probably a joke, as the writing style is just so stereotypically absurd and ignoramus-like, but it's fun to play along.) |
Yo Playa 'sup son heres tha' word
Aiiiggght loose the dubs, do some research at yo crib, loose the 'Bad Boyz' body kit, take #3 back to its original state, save to put your money into a Jake Raby monster motor. As it is yo sell those wheels to someone with a 89 Caprice & get some Fuchs or better for your budget Cookies (not the kind from Pepperidge farm) you will be better off, Don't forget 'G' the E its a considerably lighter mid engined car, if the compact cars pass you on the straight see which of them can out corner you, your homies ridin' witcha can throw up gang signs, spray on 'I am King' aftershave or flash the Mossburg as you pass. Flipside ... go get yo burner and front on his jujitsu ass. Peace . |

Not doubt Playa gave everyone here a laugh to start with, but instead of getting pissed and leaving the board, he stuck around and modified his writing to make us old farts happy. Now it turns out that due to his inexperience, he got taken on the car. Not like that hasn't ever happened to any of us. That aside, he is sticking around. He has already received some good advice. Might as well see what he can do to at least make it presentable.
Hell if Playa can keep the dollahs on the low side he be havin one sweet ride! :D Welcome to the board Playa! |
Renn...
Playa,
I think you should listen to the guy that sold you the car, after all he's a nice guy and Tai-Chi expert. Go with the "Rennegate Chevy" conversion. I think there is a site for those, called Rennpage or somthing like that....:D |
I had to double check and make sure that I was on PelicanParts.com and PelicanPizarts.BOY
|
Just substitute 911 for G5.

Seriously, he's got the equivalent of a VW-engined kit car to impress the ladies. One with questionable heat, little or no A/C, no horsepower, expensive repair and service costs, and (probably) a lot of rust under the "bling." But aside from that..... I respect 912's, as I do all Porsches (even water-cooled ones), but a customized one as a "poseur" car ?!?! BTW, one should be suspicious of any car with a lot of body work and white paint. It is the best color for hiding flaws, according to the guys who ran the body shop I worked in many years ago. |
?
Hot Vette ?
Oh,you mean stolen. |
Poser = outside > inside (sheep in wolves clothing)
Sleeper = inside > outside (wolf in sheeps clothing) This is an example of a "Sleeper" early car with a 3.0 in innocent unassuming trim: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/470338-hot-rod-targa.html I really like this, this is the type that you get a glimpse of try to catch up to to get a closer peek, and he's gone. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1240381788.jpg |

targa-cabs have nothing to do with posing. When you go out of your way to make people believe your car is something it's not, such as badging a car as a turbo when it's not) you might be a poser. And yes, I'd say there is an acceptable ratio of dollars spent on horse-power compared to appearance that has to be considered.
To my mind, the car is a bit too flashy considering the pedestrian driveline. Any race that is lost by this car Especially to Minivans and Hondas) reflects poorly on the breed. It certainly fails the Power Mods/Appearance Mods test and the 911S badge needs to come off this second. Otherwise... I spend most of my time putting around in my car on the street anyway. Assuming it's not totaly rotted out, I think 5K Might be close to market value? |
a little Armor All on the tires will make them Jet Fockin Black and look Hella Sweet.
I'm sorry...I just feel as if I've been Trolled. ;) |
Thinking about this thread a bit more (And , yes, I am a professional skeptic), I'm thinking more & more that it is either:
A frat pledge assignment, or A Psychology class (or other class) assignment Hmmmmm..... |

Well Playa all you can do right now is drive it as is.....but get rid of the wheels you will feel a little more power...also it will quicker fool some of the frats driving by....
|
Clean up the car, get rid of the wheels and make sure that the engine is working fine...enjoy it for what it is and don't get into any races. Sinking your money into it is a mistake...just my opinion.
|
Playa. Very unfortunate you bought something that was misleading.
I do believe you can still have fun with it though. My suggestion: Get those wheels off the car. Find a set of Fuchs. Find a proper spoiler or remove the current one. If you are somewhat mechanical, learn the engine, tune it and have fun with it as it is. I wouldn't put any more money into the car then absolutely necessary. I think the more you drive the car, the more you will realize these cars weren't built so much for other peoples reactions but for you, the driver. Even with a 912 motor you'll experience something that other cars won't offer. My suggestion is to let the Eclipse's and Corvette's go on by. Learn your car and make it the best you can with what you have to work with. Finding this forum and the 912bbs.org definitely gives you the ability to troubleshoot and upgrade just about any aspect of your car. It would be a good idea to inspect certain area's of the car for your own safety. The pictures previously posted of suspension points should be looked at in addition to many other areas. These things can be inquired about if you're interested in safety. |

Is this thead worth wasting our time?...
PLAYA is played out! :p |
Went to a small local dealer just outside Milwaukee, Wi that tried pulling the same crap. In my inexperience, I was pumped to maybe own my dream car for only 7000 big ones. It was only because of a carfax that I pulled that told me it was a 912, not a carrera 3.0. (fairly rare) a ten digit vin and a couple of difficult searches set me straight. I was shocked that even a dealer could try to pull this scam. In all fairness, it did have a flat 6, but the car was shot either way with rust and suspension problems. It was a very convincing clone. If you are from the area I am sure you know who I am talking about:) PPI man, PPI.

die nummer drei 912E
Playa
It looks like you have #3 912E change the wheels to stock, remove the tail and list it on ebay as the third 912E built.(Give an honest description) Someone will want it.Sell the tail and ghetto wheels and buy a good running, the best you can afford 911SC 1978-1983 and you will be happy. |
I'm still hung-up on the fact that he thinks its "faster" to type in ebonics.
It don't be faster, Playa. It just don't. Buh-Lee Dat! |
check the 914 forum for engine work......same engine that was in those cars when they were new. Sorry to hear you got ripped off. Happens to the best of us and we all have been guilty of getting excited about a car and making rash decisions. Good luck with your new project

Care to share a photo of the VIN # ?

playa - i'm a college kid too - but i did about a years worth of research before i went out and bought mine - i love the car, fun, pretty fast, impresses the ladies and what not, but without doing a $#!% load of research there is no way i would have went in for ANY car - especially a porsche.
i originally considered a Nissan 350z - then i saw that i could own a classic porsche for around the same price - and the insurance would actually be lower. some tips for the next time you go to buy a car - - inspect EVERYTHING play with all the knobs, buttons and all the little do-dads it might have in it. if there is something the guy tells you not to push i would start to think twice about your purchase - or atleast ask about it and try to get -dare i say it- an "honest" answer out of a used car salesman. count plugs/wires and make sure your engine has enough cylinders to get it moving. and always remember that a Porsche is not built for straight line speed. |

[QUOTE=gsmith660;4627215]A big red guy huh, hey dfink heres another Nebraskan, I am up that way often working at Copper and Ft. Calhoun occasionally. Post a pic of your car and we can make something of this thread we can turn this into an inspirational thread for playa. heres mine comments welcome (except you cashflyer):D[/Qoute]
sounds good! my pics are kinda crappy but hey- they'll do... the lighting makes the car look a bit more orange than it is red... but its red i swear it. http://photos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-...41173_2973.jpg http://photos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-...41172_2674.jpg and this last one is a bit blurry - - but it brings out the red better. http://www.pelicanparts.com/pmpre/im...2361/pcar1.jpg |
i dont have a husker H or a Nebraska N on it, but my plates are the UNL athletic custom plates - - my plate number is "1980 SC"
you'd be amazed how many people ask what year it is... |
If you are thinking of your car with long term potential, you've got to jump on these:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-used-parts-sale-wanted/470507-fuch-16x9-16x8-sale.html they are a first BIG step back from the long journey of poserdom. |
I doubt if we will see much of Playa on this thread anymore. Damm uppity 19 year old thought he had a nice car. Next time try not to sugar coat things so much.
Many of us seem so proud of the Pelican 911 forum gang initiation beat down he got. I think it was worse then the one Pesto360 got, although in that case in the end it turned out that he probably deserved it. |
