My fuchs are polished to a mirror finish-how can I protect it?
I'm looking for what works to protect the polished aluminum surface. A coat of wax? Clearcoat? Another product?
What have you used and what were the results? Thanks!

Would Gibbs Brand keep them shiny or make them dull?
I thought Gibbs would dull them down.

Mine are clear powdercoated and they look as good today as when I got them 5 years ago.

After you powdercoated them, were they still super shiny, or did they get dulled down a little?

It's amazing how long polished aluminum stays bright if you're not at the ocean or in some other extreme condition. A bit of Mother's once a year keeps mine just fine. After six years, they are just a bit less shiny than they were when Al Reed did them.

Screw all that Mothers and specialized wheel wax, etc.
I have a can of pure Carnauba paste wax (Stay Brite) that is easily 25 years old from when I did it professionally. I have used the wax on countless numbers of cars and there is still 1/4 can left! Took me 5 minutes to throw a coat of wax on, wiped off with a microfiber towel (this makes a HUGE difference in scratches), and will put another coat on a couple of months from now. My car and wheels gets a bath EVERY time I get home from a run, wiped down and covered. ![]()

I'd be interested in what technique you used to get the shine? To answer your question, I use Mother's and elbow grease on mine say twice a year. I can get them pretty close to original shine. Sometimes put a bit of regular wax on after shining.
