New to me 71T - Pics and questions

Finally got my first longhood. Intended to be a long-term and surely costly project. 1971T no sunroof, manual windows. I think I'm in love. Mostly original - PO put high back seats in with 3-point belts but I don't mind since I'm sure they're safer. Never will be a concours car, just a driver. Originally conda green, but went through a restoration 12-15 years ago - now white. Front pan replaced, will need jack receivers and various other rust repairs down the road. Has new Webers. First up is replacing all the original suspension bits, brakes, etc.

Questions

1) other than the Haynes, are there any good shop manuals for this year? Can't seem to find a Bentley manual.

2) please look at the dashboard trim in the picture. It's a thin strip of wood that is inserted into the metal frame. I've only found documentation on the basketweave trim for these cars. Anybody know what this is? Will need to replace it at some point as it's cracked and chipped.

3) Was it an option to not have door pockets or did the PO just remove them (see picture)

Thanks

Sweet looking car. Conda green is an awesome color, probably in my top 3.

The factory workshop manuals are very nice and big $s, but the Haynes isn't too bad. Especially with this BBS.

Looks like your door skins are from a later car. The 2.2s had basketweave.

Not sure about the wood inlay. I have never seen it before.

The closest Bentley manual starts with the 1978 model year. All of these manuals cover the early 911s. Look for them on a site like Bookfinder or eBay.

Wow, great car! You should check out the Early 911S Registry. There are some very knowledgeable people in the forums who can help you with the intricacies of these early cars. Your restoration work will be rewarded with a pure driving experience with light and agile handling.

You do not need a 911S to be a member; 911Ts are fine- sign up today! http://early911sregistry.org/

Hi
I have a conda green 71t - I am also in Westchester and would be very happy to help in anyway I can. My car is in the process of restoration - (begining stages)

My car is totally original and my be of use to you for reference - I also have a number of books, parts lists ect.

I would be very interested to see the body numbers for your car as it could be very close in terms of production dates to my car.

I am in Scarsdale.

Regards

Tom

The car pictured here at the time of purchase in MD on a cold January day this year before being hauled to NY to await restoration.

Hey Conda, just curious...if you don't mind, what did you pay for that. LOVE the color. No worries if you'd rather keep it mum on the purchase price. I'm just curious...cooking up ideas in my head, LOL.
