911 SC oil line thermostat

If the threads on the oil line thermostat are decent (not buggered up from steel oil line removal), what else could be wrong with it? The thermostat itself is removable, isn't it? Would it be identical to the thermostat on the front of the case? Do they typically go bad?

The thermostat element in the engine-mounted unit is the same as the external one in the fender well. There is a test for that unit that involved boiling the unit on the stove and checking for opening and closing temperatures. Use SEARCH and focus on the name of Boyt911SC -- he did the test and posted it. Also name KTL comments often in threads concerning the thermostats.
