Where does this oil pipe go??

Hi, in the middle of CIS inspection etc, i have found this oil pipe not going anywhere. Ive searched through the forum and all i could see were reports of a drop in rpm at idle when opening the oil cap. I dont get this.

Does anyone know where this should be connnected and should i see an rpm drop when i open the oil cap with the engine running? Thanks

The parts shown are not P-car parts - they're after market stuff for one reason or another. Show us a pic of the entire engine compartment...

that's an early cis engine with a late carrera oil tank. it's a carrera vacuum valve that doesn't relate to your engine. it's just plugging a tank outlet now.

Garage
Dave,

You can make improvements:

Change the 5-blade fan to an 11-blade type for better cooling.
Block the airduct on the left with thick vinyl and a clamp so you get more air going over the cylinders.
Remove the pedestal for the missing heater blower to the left of the throttle body.
Make sure the thick oil breather hoses from the oil filler stud are firmly connected on both ends: One goes to the breather cap on top of the engine, the other goes into the big rubber cap between the throttle body and metering unit.
Clamps on both ends will make sure there is no leak.
If the braided ignition wires are very old, they may spark over; you'll see it when it's dark.
Check the Beru connectors for correct resistance: 1k OHMS for the short type cap-end, 3k for the long plug connectors.
