930 Front Calipers - Help?

I've just had my set of Bremtek racing calipers replaced with a refurbished set of 930 calipers and there is now a grinding noise from the front right hand side, but 'only' when turning right.

On closer examination it would appear that the right hand 930 rotor has very little clearance (3-4mm) to the bottom of the A-arm / ball joint (much more clearance on the left side).

See:

The front struts are lowered RSR units and the rotors are new Sebro's which seem to be installed in the correct orientation.

Any advice would be much appreciated?

Thx

Martin

Bent strut housing maybe? Spindle should be 11 degrees. I think it would take a positive camber bend to cause your problem so in your case it would be 11 degrees ++. Good luck

we have seen this before. Standard camber on raised spindle struts. Here it the solution w/o grinding away on the lower control am. Remove the hub/rotor assembly, remove the bearing seal race spacer from the strut. Source a thin washer to go between the bearing race spacer and the strut, reassemble. You won't need much; maybe .010 " will do it

Dave,

Thanks for that, seems a nice simple solution - presumably I should space out both sides?

Otherwise any thoughts on a decambered ball joint (Elephant racing) - I understand that these also push the disc away from the a-arm, although I'm not too sure whether the expense is worth it for an occassional track day car?

Now all I have to do is track down some washers?

Thx

Martin

yes- do both sides. the washers can be larger i.d. than the spindle but should be absolutely flat so the bearing spacers can be pressed fully against them

Pm me at tremotorsports@gmail.com re the camber joints from elephant
